Taylor Pass Hut
Taylor Pass Hut is just 15 minutes from Blenheim, on a property called 'Jentree', in a valley called Taylor Pass. Taylor Pass is one of the last valleys of traditional rugged farming country in Marlborough.
The hut is set along an avenue of pretty trees, on the banks of the Taylor River.
The hut is a stunning example of small space glamping done well... Everything fits neatly into a cosy, functional and beautifully styled space. Each window perfectly frames a view of the surrounding countryside. A door in the main living area leads to a separate bathroom, complete with hot shower and toilet.
Positioned to take in the setting sun at the end of the valley, the outlook from the hut is beautiful. Just below, water gently trickles across a rocky river bed. An abundance of fantails will keep you company during the day, with the occasional Tui and Bellbird popping in to visit too. Clear skies, make for unbelievable star-gazing - perfect for outdoor bathing at night.
Whether you're travelling around the South Island or visiting Blenheim for the weekend, Taylor Pass Hut is the perfect place to switch off and relax. There's no cell phone service at the hut, and apart from the very occasional car on the road it's completely tranquil.
When you're not completely blissed out in the comfort of your little hut, the proximity to Blenheim means you can explore all the Marlborough region has to offer. Adventurers can bring their mountain bikes or walking boots and tackle the local tracks, foodies can hit the local cafes, restaurants and bars - and wine lovers can enjoy the many world-class wineries on offer. There's something for everyone!

Fossickers Hut, Marlborough
Fossickers Hut is situated near small, historic, gold-mining town, Canvastown, on the main route to Nelson from either Picton or Blenhiem. Kissing Gate, Nelson
Kissing Gate is nestled on a 7 acre farmlet, set amongst a glade beside a pond, surrounded by peaceful countryside. Based in the beautiful Mapua district, its just 30 minutes from the centre of Nelson and 16 minutes to Motueka. The campsite is made up of two vintage caravans, Ruby and Pearl, and a settlers' cottage style bathroom and kitchen.
Honeywell Hut, Motueka
Honeywell Hut is just 50 minutes from popular Motueka, and just over 1 hour from Nelson. Set on a large and dramatic sheep and beef farm, Honeywell Hut has all the style of a back country musterer's hut. The one room hut has been loving restored over the years by owners, Fiona and Richard, with a ton of creative, rustic charm.

A 10% deposit is charged during the booking process. The deposit is non-refundable, however it can be transferred to another booking made within a 12 month period, if your stay is cancelled more than 3 weeks prior to your arrival.
Rates and Extras
MINIMUM STAY PERIODS
Taylor Pass Hut has a standard minimum stay period of two nights. The minimum booking period for long weekends such as Labour Weekend, Anniversary Weekend etc is 3 nights. The minimum booking period for Easter is 4 nights.
Where there is a single night gap between bookings, it may be possible to book that single night with a surcharge of $30. If you are interested in this option, please email us with your date request.
Peak season (1 December to 30 April):
The standard nightly peak rate is $220 for 2 people.
Off-Peak season (1 May to 30 November):
The standard nightly off-peak rate is $200 for 2 people.
Ploughmans Platter/basket for two - $55
Includes; fresh bread, crackers, pita bread, ham, salami, relish and pickles (homemade when possible), selection of cheeses, fruit, dukkah and oil.
Breakfast hamper for two - $25
Includes; granola and yoghurt jars, farm fresh eggs, bacon, crumpets, and spreads
HOW TO BOOK AND PAY
The quickest way to check availability and book is by using our online booking calendar. This is always up-to-date. Find the date that suits you, then click Book Now. You'll be taken through the booking process in a few easy steps.
During the booking process, you’ll be asked to pay a 10% non-refundable deposit to secure your booking. Once you've completed the booking process and deposit payment, you'll receive a confirmation email. This explains how to pay the remainder of your balance, which is due 4 weeks prior to your arrival date. If you’ve booked within this timeframe, the full balance will be due straight away. We’ll provide bank account details for payment by Internet Banking deposit in the email, and we also provide a secure link so you can opt to pay by credit card. Credit card payments incur a 2.5% surcharge.

You'll be able to park in an easy to access paddock below the hut, with a short 50m walk to the hut. You're welcome to come and go from the property as often as you like.

SLEEPING & BED ARRANGEMENT
The hut sleeps two people in a built-in queen-size bed.
The hut has an electricity supply with hot water supplied via an LPG gas califont. An electric heater is provided for warmth in the cooler months.
The bathroom facilities include a shower and pleasant-to-use composting toilet inside the hut, separated from the main living area by a door. A privacy-screened outdoor bath is just outside the hut with views of the surrounding countryside.
The kitchen facilities are inside the hut, and include an electric cook-top, toaster and kettle. You'll find all the pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and utensils you'll need to cook. There is bench space for food preparation and hot water for dishes. A chilly-bin and cold packs are supplied for cool food storage. The hut has a built in table and chairs for dining.
Mobile phone reception is available at the top of the hill, a 30-50 minute steep walk. You can also get mobile reception about 5km down the road. There are power outlets in the hut for charging phones.
Full linen, towels and bedding is supplied. The sheets are high quality, 100% Egyptian Cotton. The duvet has a woollen inner, with a comforter and extra blanket supplied if needed.
WHAT TO BRING

- Walking shoes or boots for exploring the property.
- Warm clothes - it can be very chilly in the mornings and at night when star-gazing. A warm jersey and long pants are a must.
- Shower and bath toiletries.
- Insect repellent and sunscreen - A must have!
It’s very important to follow the safety guidelines and terms that you’ll find in our booking terms and in your onsite guide. These terms and guidelines include:
- Visitors stay at their own risk, this is a working farm with hazards both farm related (ie. machinery and animals) and natural
- Leave gates as you find them
- Animals are unpredicatable - best to avoid them
- Extreme caution driving in and out of the property - driving speed limit on the property is 20km p/h
- Stay out of farm buildings, such as the barn.

Eating and Drinking
Taylor Pass Hut is self-catering. Just bring your own food, and cook meals using the facilities provided in the hut. You'll find all the cutlery, crockery, pots and pans that you'll need. Read more about the kitchen facilities under 'Essentials'.
A Countdown supermarket is a 12km (16 minute) drive away and a New World supermarket is a 14km drive away.
If you want a break from cooking at any stage, Blenhiem is just 14kms away (a maximum 20 minute drive) and has several cafes, wineries and restaurants to choose from. Here's a run down of some of the best!
Burleigh - at 72 New Renwick Road. Best coffee and most amazing home made pies ever tasted (Pork Belly Pie can't be missed).
Thomas's Cafe - 54 Market Street, Blenheim. Coffee bar and eatery and conveniently attached to the only family owned department store.
23 Grove road - great coffee and good for a bite on the go, it is on the main road to Picton
The Vines Village Cafe - 193 Rapaura Road. This is a destination cafe nestled amongst the wineries. Great food, beautiful setting, not to mention a wine cellar and a collection of boutique stores.
Scotch - 26 Maxwell Road. Great for Tapas and has an amazing wine and cocktail selection.
Gramados - 74 Main Street. Brazilian cuisine.
Arbour - 36 Godfrey Road - fine dining and amazing food.

Justin and Victoria met at high school in Blenheim - and have only recently returned to Marlborough. Prior to this they were in Christchurch and have lived in various places around the South Island. Victoria trained as a nurse, originally having worked in Oncology, General Practice and more recently in management. When the opportunity came to move back to Blenheim she was glad to swap suits and high heels for gumboots and muddy hands.
Justin’s career as a professional mountain biker has seen them both travelling the world and exploring unique places. He has been racing professionally for 15 years. Despite the travel and stints overseas (with a particular favourite being a period on the Italian Riviera) they have always known that they wanted their home to be New Zealand.
Victoria and Justin have two children, which keep Victoria busy, but she can always find a moment to look after her menagerie of animals (which is rapidly growing) and work in her garden. Luca is 3 and Annabella is 18 months.
The connection Victoria and Justin have with Jentree is deep rooted, in the early 2000’s the property was nationally renowned for its Mountain Bike tracks, hosting multiple events here. Justin managed to win his first Junior and Pro Elite National titles at the property. When the opportunity came up recently to purchase the property they jumped at the chance. Despite it being early days they have big visions for the land. The forestry trees are replanted and they plan to regenerate the native bush around the waterways and gullies.
Victoria and Justin now have a future vision of shaping this into, not only an adventure playground for our children, but for current and future riders and outdoor enthusiasts once again.
1. Booking and payments
1.1 A deposit of 10% is required to confirm your booking and secure the property. This will be charged to your credit card at the time of booking. A 2.75% credit card payment surcharge will be applied to this payment.
1.2 On receipt of the deposit, you will receive an email confirming both the payment and your booking details.
1.3 The remaining balance will be due 4 weeks in advance of your arrival date. An email reminder will be sent to you 3 days prior to this date, where an outstanding balance remains. The reminder email gives you the option to pay the remaining balance by internet banking or, if your internet banking payment has not been received within 48 hours, the remaining balance will automatically be charged to the credit card used at the time of booking. Please note: a 2.5% credit card payment surcharge is applied to all payments made by credit card. Credit card data is held in a secure and encrypted environment.
1.4 Bookings made within 4 weeks in advance of your arrival date will be charged the full balance at the time of booking (this may be processed in two payments).
1.5 If you are unable to pay the balance before the stated due date, you will forfeit your deposit and your booking will be cancelled.
1.6 Bookings made online within 48 hours of arrival will not be confirmed immediately. Once the campsite has agreed that the booking can be honoured, the guest will be informed by Canopy Camping Escapes and the credit card used for the online booking will be charged the full balance of the stay (note that there is a 2.5% credit card fee).
2. Cancellation and severe weather warnings
2.1 Some campsites may have limitations due to weather. If severe weather is forecast we will call you as soon as possible prior to your scheduled arrival date to advise you and cancel your booking. You can choose whether to defer your holiday to a later date subject to availability or receive a full refund.
2.2 Your 10% deposit is non-refundable, however it can be transferred to another booking made within a 12 month period, if your stay is cancelled more than 3 weeks prior to your arrival.
2.3 Cancellation by you within 4-21 days of your arrival date will result in 50% of the total cost of your stay being charged. Cancellation within 3 days of your arrival date will result in 100% of the total cost of your stay being charged.
3. Safety and Hazards
3.1 Campsites are often situated on working farms and there are hazards both natural and man-made. You accept that you enter the property at your own risk to participate in a glamping holiday.
3.2 Participation in activities such as, outdoor baths, climbing trees, walking on the property and any other activity on the property is the responsibility of the Guest and is done so at their own risk.
3.3 Canopy Camping Escapes accept no liability for accident, loss of property or personal injury whilst on your stay.
No pets allowed. Campsites are often situated on working farms, and therefore are not suitable for visiting pets.
GST of 15% (where applicable) is included in the daily per night cost. A GST invoice will be supplied if requested.
6. The Holiday – Guest Conditions of occupancy and Conduct
6.1 The Guests have the right to occupy the Property for the paid holiday period only.
6.2 Guests are required to observe the rules and familiarise themselves with the procedures contained in the information folder provided in the tent.
6.3 Guests shall take all reasonable and proper care of the property and its furniture, fittings and effects in or on the property and leave them in the same state of repair, condition, cleanliness and tidiness as at the commencement of the rental period.
6.4 Guests are required to inform the owner of any damage or breakage in or around the property promptly so that it can be repaired and replaced for the next guests. Guests are bound to reimburse the owners for replacement, repair or extra cleaning costs where reasonably demanded by the owners for damage caused by the guests.
6.5 Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property.
6.6 Guests undertake to behave in a proper, appropriate and legal manner with due respect to the Owner, the Property and other guests and their property. If any guest behaves inappropriately or improperly (of which the Owner will be the final judge on their Property), or illegally, the Owner reserves the right to ask the guest and their party (at their discretion) to leave the Property before the end of the holiday period. Any refund for so doing will be at the entire discretion of the Owner in consulation with Canopy Camping Escapes.
7. Authority to Sign
The person who completes the Booking Form certifies that: he or she is authorised to agree the Booking Conditions on behalf of all persons included in the Booking Form, including those substituted or added at a later date; the signatory is over eighteen years of age; they agree to take responsibility for the party occupying the Property, and to notify Canopy Camping Escapes if they are not a member of the holiday party.
