The Willows

The Willows

Napier, Hawke's Bay

The Willows is a short 10-minute drive from Napier City in Hawke’s Bay.

Settled amongst the native trees and beside a magical pond, the accommodation consists of two yurts connected by a covered porchway. The large yurt is the living and sleeping area with a king-size bed and comfortable seating. The smaller yurt contains the bathroom and kitchen.

One of the most special features of this escape is the outlook over the eco-pond. It’s peaceful, serene and harmonises with the surrounding native plants and birdlife. Its special filter system keeps the water crystal clear, creating a natural swimming hole for cooling off on a hot day. If you prefer something a bit warmer, take a soak in the outdoor hot tub.

A peninsula with a covered pergola in the centre of the pond is the perfect place for pre-dinner nibbles and wine.

The close proximity to Napier, makes this escape the ideal base for a weekend of fun exploring the Hawke's Bay and all it has to offer.

  • Your hosts

Your hosts at The Willows are Paul and Sally, alongside their trusty Fox/Jack Russell terriers (Coco, Geoffrey and Susan).

Paul and Sally bought the property a couple of years ago and have completely transformed it from its somewhat rundown state to the peaceful oasis it is today. They had a clear vision for what they wanted to achieve with the disused yurt, overgrown pond and grounds, and with lots of hard work over 18 months, they have brought that vision to life.

Nowadays, Paul works from home as a consultant while Sally maintains the property and helps to take care of her grandchildren. They love meeting new people and want to share their love of the yurt, and the magical pond, with others.

‘The Willows’ was named after the weeping willow tree at the end of the pond, but it is also symbolic of a graceful and peaceful state of mind.

Sally and Paul were so welcoming, and the accommodation was beautiful. We loved how big and cosy the yurts were and how comfy the bed was. It was so peaceful having a glass of wine overlooking the natural pool, as well as sitting in the hot tub gazing at the stars. Overall, it was a very memorable stay, and we will definitely return.

We stayed at the Willows, and from the second we turned up, we were greeted by our hosts, who were lovely. We walked inside and were blown away by the beautiful setting and yurt. Everything was amazing, down to the little touches with fresh fruit, champagne, and fresh eggs. It is such a tranquil and relaxing place, and the bed was so comfortable. 10/10, and we will definitely be back. Amazing recharge.

Amazing all round. Private, yet only five minutes into Napier. We used the kayak, had swims in the lake, and the hot tub for after our bike rides. We sat on the deck and watched the variety of native birds flying from tree to tree.

Our visit to The Willows was absolutely unforgettable! The peaceful, tucked-away, tropical surroundings were the perfect escape for a three-day getaway before the busy Christmas season in 2024. My partner and I made lasting memories here, and we’re already looking forward to returning annually. A huge thank you to Sally and the family for providing such a wonderful retreat and for helping us create these beautiful memories. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience! She said yes!!
