Pikopiko Valley

Pikopiko Valley

Western Bay of Plenty

Pikopiko Valley is 10 minutes from Paengaroa and 40 minutes from Tauranga and in the Bay of Plenty.

The cabin is set in a bush-clad valley, close to a fresh spring water stream, and nestled within beautifully landscaped surroundings. Exquisitely styled, the cabin's interior is restful and calming - with every last detail considered.

You'll find large glass doors opening into a modern kitchen and bathroom, a comfortable queen-sized bed and a gas fire for keeping cosy. Head outdoors for a soak in the bath located on the deck and listen to the melodious tuis calling from the surrounding bush. Or, as night falls, relax around the fire pit with a drink and your favourite fireside treat.

There are many things to do in the surrounding region... but we think this is one place where you just won't want to leave.

Pikopiko Valley is self-catering. Just bring your own food and drink, and cook meals using the 2-burner gas hob and BBQ provided. You'll find all the cutlery, crockery, pots and pans that you'll need.

If you want a break from cooking at any stage, The Trading Post - French Bistro in Paengaroa is only 10 minutes away. There's also Jellicoe St Bar & Eatery in Te Puke (20 minutes away) and Okere Falls Store + Craft Beer Garden (25 minutes away).

The nearest store for stocking up on food and supplies is a 6-minute drive to Paengaroa dairy or 15 minutes drive to the supermarket at Te Puke.

  • things to do

Surrounded by native ferns, kanuka, mahoe, ponga and kahikatea trees - you will truly feel one with nature here.

Wind down and relax near the campfire, soak in the outdoor bath or battle it out over a board game in the cabin. If you want to stretch your legs, Pikopiko Valley has a wonderful bush walk on the property that takes you to the Kaituna River.

Feel like getting out and about? Okere has plenty of fun activities such as white water rafting, ziplining, and the Okere Fall Walking Track (25 minutes drive).

Take a trip to Mount Maunganui, and visit the nearby beaches - or go walking in the Papamoa Hills. For something a bit different, drive 20 minutes to Te Puke to visit the 'Black Stump Strawberry Farm' (with seasonal opening times).

There are plenty more amazing bush walks to try, like Otanewainuku Walking Tracks and Roydon Downs Reserve in Paengaroa.

  • your hosts

Your hosts at Pikopiko Valley are Luke, Melz, Tex, Elsie and their dog, Minnie.

After moving from Australia four years ago, they settled into their piece of Kiwi paradise in the Bay of Plenty. Luke works as a Boiler Maker/Welder and Melz manages the farm and duties at home.

Their love for the native bush and farmland has inspired them to share it with others by creating this incredible glamping retreat.

During the spring months, there are copious amounts of pikopiko (native ferns) around the valley. It's truly stunning and is the inspiration for the name of the cabin.

What a wonderful spot. The cabin is really cosy, and the bed comfortable. Our dogs had a fabulous time; the outside fenced area for them to run around was huge. We all loved snuggling around the outdoor fireplace at night after soaking in the outdoor bath with the fabulous rose bath salts provided. Able to totally forget about the outside world as there's no Wi-Fi and it's very private.

Loved the outside fire, marshmallows, and the outside bath; very private. Would go there again for sure. Mel, the host, was very friendly and helpful.

Pikipiko Valley is paradise! What a beautiful sanctuary Mel and Luke have created. So relaxing and secluded, you couldn’t get closer to nature! The bath on the deck was my favourite, but the amazingly comfy bed was a very close second! The fire and river were incredible and so private. I couldn’t recommend more highly for a snuggly retreat away.

To anyone looking for the perfect spot for an outdoor bath, roasted marshmallows over the fire, and a glow worm walk, this is the place for you.
