Luna

Luna

Raglan, Waikato

Luna is located near Raglan in the Waikato, a 1 hour and 50 minutes drive from Auckland City and a 30-minute drive from Hamilton. The property is also home to Venus, another beautiful dome, and Lovebird Cottage.

Luna is a tranquil geodesic dome blended into nature. Drift to sleep in a plush queen bed with lovely linens, then wake as sunlight streams through your picture-frame windows, bringing the outside world to your bedside. Warm wooden floors complement brass accents, while a botanical mural adorns the wall concealing your bathroom and kitchen.

A winding stream borders the property, creating a peaceful soundtrack to your stay, as well as a picturesque spot for a romantic picnic or a private soiree for two. With pathways meandering through lush greenery, the entire property feels like its own pretty park filled with touches of the wild.

Stroll down to the sheltered pavilion for magical BBQ evenings, or indulge in the alfresco shower and freestanding bathtub where you can soak while drinking in valley views and birdsong. A few more steps up the stone pathway leads you to a cedar barrel sauna.

After wandering nature trails, beaches, or the artistic Raglan township, return to Luna and unwind to relax and embrace the comforting countryside.

If you're keen to eat out - your hosts can recommend a divine selection of eating options in the Raglan area. Raglan Roast CoffeeThe Shack,Rock-It Kitchen, Ulo's Kitchen, ISO Cafe Bistro are their top picks. Or you can chill on the wharf while eating fish n' chips!

If you're looking for a place for a quiet (or lively!) drink, The Yot ClubOrca Eatery & Bar, Wyld and ISO Bar are all good options.

  • things to do

Luna is perched on a hilltop, overlooking a peaceful valley of rolling farmland and scattered trees. It’s perfectly positioned to catch the sunrise over the hills and enjoy stargazing under the night sky.

Raglan is an artsy town with a thriving art and food scene. Raglan Points is one of the top surf spots in the world and is only 5-10 mins from the town centre (Wild Coast Ruapuke is 30 minutes away). Activities such as ocean swimming, walking, fishing, mountain biking tracks, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding and rock climbing are all readily available.

For something a bit different, Xtreme Zero Waste offers tours of how they recycle in NZ.

  • your hosts

Your hosts at Luna are Nadine and Jeff.

Nadine and Jeff, and their two children Faye and Stevie, have lived on the property for over a decade. Originally from Auckland, the family were looking for more of a country lifestyle with land and the chance to grow organic produce and produce meat, according to the permaculture principles.

Jeff is an electrician specialising in designing/installing solar power and off-grid systems. Nadine is a stay-at-home mum (and a professional cleaner!!) Watching the ‘food forest’ grow over the years has been one of the best experiences. And living near Raglan is the cherry on top as it's so convenient to the township and beautiful coastline.

The energy at the property is calm, and the bird song is lovely. The dome is big enough for two people to snuggle in together. Nadine & Jeff are so excited to share their beautiful spot in the world with others to enjoy.
