  • your hosts

Your hosts at Rockburn Escape are Clare and Evan, along with their three daughters, Olivia, Ella, and Milly.

The property sits on Rockburn Farm, a family-owned sheep and beef farm proudly stewarded by the Chapman family since 1919. As fourth-generation farmers, Evan and Clare continue the family legacy with passion and dedication.

Rockburn has evolved from its early days of Drysdale sheep and breeding cows to specialising in exceptional Wagyu beef and premium Lumina lamb. Every animal is raised with care, resulting in meat that's high in quality and rich in flavour.

But Rockburn is more than just a farm; it's a sanctuary for nature. The property includes habitat for New Zealand's rare native long-tailed bats, and the Chapmans are proud custodians of both the land and the wildlife that call it home.

Evan works full-time on the farm, while Clare balances part-time admin work at a veterinary clinic with her farm responsibilities. Inspired by family members who successfully run their own accommodation properties, they started Rockburn Escape to diversify the farming operation while sharing this beautiful property with visitors.
