St Bathans Views

St Bathans Views

Ōmakau, Otago

St Bathans Views is 15 minutes from Ōmakau and just over two hours from Dunedin in the Otago region.

Situated on golden tussock-covered hills with panoramic mountain views, this off-grid retreat offers three weathered corrugated iron huts that blend seamlessly into the rugged Central Otago landscape.

The main living hut opens onto a spacious timber deck complete with a wood burner, wine-barrel seating, and an outdoor kitchen—your base for long evenings under endless skies. Inside, vintage furniture and rustic charm create an intimate gathering space.

Two sleeping huts offer tranquil sanctity: one with a king-size bed and an ensuite, with an outdoor bath just outside. The other hut, just a few metres away, has two single beds.

With the Dunstan River murmuring through the valley, this is countryside escape at its finest—raw, beautiful, and blissfully remote.

Unwind with classic outdoor games like cornhole by the brazier, or gather inside for board games and cards as the fire crackles. Soak in the outdoor bath under starlit skies, letting the day's adventures melt away.

Cast a line in the nearby Dunstan River or take a refreshing summer dip in its cool waters. Wander along peaceful riverside trails through golden tussock and native grasses, where time slows to the rhythm of nature. Simply savour the silence of this beautiful high country.

  • your hosts

Your hosts at St Bathans Views are Stacey and Paul.

Stacey and Paul, along with their children Zac, Ollie, and Grace, plus Jack Russell Vinnie and Labrador Frank, have called this stunning corner of Central Otago home for nearly a decade.

Paul works the farm while Stacey juggles life as mum, barista, part-time wool store worker, and chief taxi driver for the kids. Inspired by friends who'd embraced glamping, they created St Bathans Views as both an additional farm income and a passion project.

The name celebrates the ever-changing vistas of Mt St Bathans and Dunstan Peak. It's a daily reminder of why they cherish this slow-paced, history-rich landscape and its dramatic four seasons.
