  • your hosts

Your hosts at Quarry Cabin are Sharon and Doug, along with their pets Stewie the British Blue cat, Sissy the rescue cat, and Tip the retired farm dog!

Sharon and Doug have owned the block since 2020 and plan to build their forever home here in the future. The cabin was originally built for lambing season and as a temporary residence while renovating. Doug is a retired U.S.A.F aircraft engineer who now takes care of their rare breed sheep and cows on the lifestyle blocks. Meanwhile, Sharon is busy designing their next new and exciting accomodation project.

The cabin offers outstanding views and a peaceful country location - your hosts are thrilled to share it with you!

The cabin had everything you needed whilst feeling off-grid. The views were amazing, it was extremely cosy inside, and it’s hard to top an outdoor bath under the stars. It was basically perfect, and we’d definitely recommend it to others. We might even come back ourselves one day!

So cosy and very warm once the fire is going. The outdoor fire is such a great idea, especially with marshmallows. I would definitely recommend bringing a jacket and some easy outside shoes to put on quickly, as you can’t wear outside shoes in the cabin.

The Quarry surpassed our dreams. Very easy access and friendly, knowledgeable hosts. The view was absolutely beautiful, and there are seats to sit and enjoy it. The outdoor bath surrounded by pots of herbs, flowers, and lights was magical! There's also a big shower. There was a Weber BBQ and gas ring for cooking. The kitchen is well-stocked with oils and condiments. They anticipate everything you may need.

Beautiful escape, not far at all from Christchurch. Everything was perfect—from the outdoor bath to views, to the outdoor fire pit. A great place for roasting marshmallows and stargazing on a clear night. Hosts, Sharon and Doug, were really helpful and greeted us on arrival. Would love to return someday!
