Each tent has two bedrooms with super king-sized beds. Each bedroom has its own ensuite, complete with flushing toilet and steaming hot shower. Hotel quality linen, bedding and towels are provided, meaning all you need to do is pack a suitcase.

Meals can be arranged with the team to your requirements. You can have your own chef preparing a delicious meal for your group in the camp kitchen.

The rustic outdoor setting comes complete with fire-pit for socialising and star-gazing. Other facilities include the outside bar, wood fire pizza oven, expansive outdoor kitchen with spit roast, extensive lounging area with plasma television, and a large dining area that sneaks hidden views towards the crashing waves and setting sun.

  • Your Hosts

Castaways is set on a recreation reserve in the most south western corner of Auckland City.

In 2002 Gavin & Raewyn Shine purchased the property and existing business (KP's) and after extensive renovations to the restaurant, reopened as Castaways, a Wedding, Conference and Dining destination.

Over the years Castaways has grown and expanded to include 25 chalets and studio units, a day spa, beautiful new restaurant - Agave, and loads of adventure activities. It's now one of the most popular wedding and conference destinations in the Greater Auckland region.

In 2013, Gavin and Raewyn started a whole new Castaways experience with Castaways Glam Camping. They started with just one, and now have the three coastal tents and the Totara tree tent to offer guests. Their latest glamping endeavour is the brand new Glam Camping Village. Serena Shine, Gavin's daughter has taken over management of the glam camping for Castaways and is supported by a number of friendly and helpful staff, including live-in resort managers.
