  • eating and drinking

Country Road Cabin is self-catering. Just bring your own food and drink, and cook meals using the double-burner gas cooktop, airfryer and BBQ provided. You'll find all the cutlery, crockery, pots and pans that you'll need.

For dining out, your hosts recommend the local Historical Hotel Pub, built in the 1890s, known for its wholesome atmosphere and hearty meals - the "Huka Burgers" are a must-try.

The nearest store for stocking up on food and supplies is the 4 Square in Hikurangi (30 minutes away) or Tikipunga in Whangārei (40 minutes).

  • things to do

Start the day with a walk through the native bush on the property for your daily dose of fresh air. Then unwind under the open sky in the outdoor bath for the ultimate relaxation. Inside, cosy up with a board game, a deck of cards, or a good movie on the TV.

If you are keen on venturing out, the local area has plenty to offer. Visit the farmers' markets in Kerikeri at The Old Packhouse on weekends, one hour away (8:00am – 1:30pm on Saturday and 9:00am – 1:00pm on Sunday).

A scenic day trip to Whangārei could take you to the Quarry Gardens or the serene Whangārei Falls, both ideal spots for a peaceful wander surrounded by natural beauty.

  • your hosts

Your hosts at Country Road Cabin are Jamie and Rachel, joined by their son, Rylan and his partner Aliyah, along with their friendly dogs, Ivy and Remy.

Originally from the Waikato, they were drawn to a quieter life on a secluded farm surrounded by native bush and natural rivers.

Their 260-acre property is home to dry stock farming, with endless walking tracks through the bush and easy access to many beautiful nearby beaches. Wanting to share the peacefulness of their surroundings, they built the cabin at the back of the farm as a place for rest and connection with nature.

Tucked away down a long country road, the cabin now welcomes others to enjoy the same serenity that first captured their hearts.
