Glenstrae Ridge

Glenstrae Ridge

Kaikōura Coast

Glenstrae Ridge is located on Kaikōura Coast, 2 hours from Christchurch and just under 4 hours from Nelson.

The cabin, poised high on a hilltop, offers a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of the coastline, mountains, rolling farmland, and the ever-changing sea. If you crave a respite to unwind and find peace, this haven is tailor-made for you. Once you're dropped at the cabin by your hosts, you'll be there in blissful solitude until they come to collect you on your day of departure. Day-trip transfers can be arranged if you're keen to explore the area during your stay.

The cabin itself is cosy and restful - with touches of subtle luxury. The decor is purposefully simple, allowing the stunning views out of every window to take centre stage. Inside, you'll find a comfortable queen bed and a modern en-suite. The beautiful kitchen has strategically placed windows - inviting you to cook while indulging in the scenery. A small, yet comfy, sofa is nestled next to the wood burner.

Step onto the deck, where an outdoor seat and barbecue invite you to an alfresco cooking experience. Then, end your evening with a soak in the wood-fired outdoor hot tub, under a starry night canvas.

With a little luck, you might catch a glimpse of dolphins gracefully passing by - an especially beautiful sight as the sun sets.

I have been fortunate to travel the world and experience some incredible accommodation, but Glenstrae Ridge really takes the cake. It's an immaculate cabin with modern amenities and a great fireplace. Arguably the most impressive views in NZ, with a hot tub to watch the whales all day, completely secluded. Incredibly welcoming hosts. It was the perfect place to propose!

Absolute Kiwi Gem. I've traveled the world, and to find this only a few hours from home is simply amazing. Breathtaking views from every angle while sitting in the wood-fired hot tub, listening to the waves out at sea, to reading a book in front of the fire—this place has it covered. Very modern property with everything you could ever need, and hosts who went well beyond to make our trip something truly special. We will definitely be back.
