Manutangi Cabin

Manutangi Cabin

Tūtūkākā, Northland

Manutangi Cabin is located 20 minutes from Whangarei and 2 hours and 20 minutes from Auckland.

Tucked into bush-clad hills, the cabin looks out over tranquil bay views. By day, you’re surrounded by native greenery. By night, the skies come alive with stars, and it’s quiet enough that you may even hear kiwi on their nocturnal wanderings.

Inside, the cabin features a queen-size bed and an ensuite, with a large window offering a beautiful outlook to wake up to each morning with a hot cuppa. A covered deck extends the living space outdoors, with everything you need for cooking, dining and relaxing. Just off the deck, an outdoor bath is perfectly positioned for soaking while taking in the ocean views.

A stay here is less about doing and more about being still, letting the birdsong, the trees and the view do the rest.

YOUR HOSTS

Your host at Manutangi Cabin is Erica and her cockerspaniel, Coco.

Erica has lived on this land her whole life, part of a farm that has been in her family for generations, connected to the local hapu, Ngati Taka. She is the resident gardener and has a lot of care for the stories held in every corner of the property, from the trees to the sea.

Erica sees herself as kaitiaki, caring for the whenua for future generations, and that same spirit shaped her decision to open Manutangi Cabin. The name itself means birdsong, fitting for a home where tui, korimako, kukupa and kiwi can all be heard.

Scenic coastal landscape viewed through a golden tent opening, showing lush green hillside with forest line meeting turquoise ocean waters under clear blue sky
