Ridge Retreat

Ridge Retreat

Bay of Plenty

Ridge Retreat is 25 minutes from Ōhope and 1 hour 40 minutes from Tauranga in the Bay of Plenty.

Tucked away through a hidden hedgerow, the retreat offers breathtaking views of orchards, farmlands, and glimpses of the ocean in winter, all while being perched on Paerata Ridge overlooking the stunning Waiweka Gorge.

A true sanctuary for wellness, the retreat features an outdoor cedar barrel sauna with traditional hot rocks steam, a handmade concrete bathtub on the deck, yoga mats, and a dedicated garden yoga space. Inside, the cabin is cosy, with a kitchen, lounge, and beautifully decorated bedroom with an ensuite. Then there's outdoor seating for soaking in the view.

The surrounding hills come alive with changing colours throughout the day, particularly during pastel-lit sunsets. Nature also thrives – with Tui, Fantails, Weka, Kereru, Moreporks, Pheasants, Magpies, and Hawks often spotted nearby. Every detail invites you to unwind, connect with nature, and leave feeling refreshed and inspired.

  • your hosts

Your hosts at Ridge Retreat are Jacob and Lynsay.

Jacob grew up on the orchard, which has been in his family for nearly 30 years and is filled with lush green kiwifruit his father still farms commercially. After moving back to the orchard to be closer to family, Jacob and Lynsay combined their talents, his as a builder and hers in short-term rentals and interior design, to design and build the cabin themselves.

Inspired by their own love of off-grid escapes, Jacob and Lynsay have created a unique haven for others to unwind and enjoy the beauty of this special spot.
