Shortlands Shed - Manuka Views

Shortlands Shed - Manuka Views

Naseby, Central Otago

** Note for bookings during June/July/August. You must have your own 4WD ute or truck to access Shortland Station (SUVs or Subaru-type cars are not adequate). There can be snow on the property and in the region affecting access**

Shortlands Station is a high country sheep station at the base of the Kakanui Ranges, in the Danseys Pass corner of the Maniototo. It's less than 2 hours from Dunedin and just under 2 1/2 hours from Queenstown.

'Manuka Views' is one of two glamping 'sheds' on the property, along with the sister shed, 'Nobbler Creek'. Manuka Views is set on the edge of a creek overlooking golden tussock hill country.

The design of Manuka Views is inspired by the classic corrugated iron farm buildings you see throughout New Zealand. It combines a stylish, covered, open-air kitchen and bathroom - with a luxurious and cosy enclosed bedroom and lounging space.

Guests will experience a stunning mountain vista, with 360-degree views of the surrounding high country. A cedar wood-fired hot tub sits in a prime position to take it all in while soaking in steaming hot, fresh mountain water. At night, the view of the night sky and stars is amazing.

Manuka Views is the ultimate, peaceful glamping retreat. Enjoy the tranquil sounds of the creek, the birds, and the unbelievable quiet - with the only interruption being the comforting sound of the odd sheep baaing nearby.

  • Things To Do

Rejuvenate on the property with a soak in the fresh mountain water in the wood-fired cedar hot tub. Enjoy the high country scenery and peaceful surrounds.

Explore the property on foot. Climb the surrounding hills and take in the amazing high country views (although note that walking on the property may be more restricted during lambing season in Oct/Nov). Discover the historic gold tailings and try your hand at gold panning down at the creek.

Bring your mountain bikes! The Naseby area is renowned for its mountain biking tracks and Shortlands Station is only a 20 min drive to the famous Central Otago Rail Trail.

Naseby itself is just 10km away. You'll find cafes and restaurants along with some fun and novel activities. Give 'curling' or ice skating a go - or get the adrenaline pumping with a go on the Southern Hemisphere's only ice luge.
