Tiny Tui

Tiny Tui

Northland

Tiny Tui is 20 minutes from Whangarei and 2 hours and 15 minutes from Central Auckland. It’s the second glamping escape following the charming Tui Hilltop.

Perched atop a volcanic hill, Tiny Tui offers a glamping escape surrounded by stunning natural beauty.

The accommodation is thoughtfully designed with two cosy cabins—a bedroom and a kitchen—sitting just metres apart and connected by a spacious deck. A circular deck also features a lovely outdoor bath area, perfect for soaking in the views. Meanwhile, the melodic calls of tui, the flit of fantails, and the gentle coo of kereru create a peaceful soundtrack.

At Tiny Tui, the view steals the show. Whether you’re sipping a cuppa on the deck or lounging in bed with the bifold doors open, the scenery is serene. Each moment feels like a postcard—sunset hues painting the sky, rolling hills fading into the horizon, and a glittering canopy of stars overhead on clear nights.

  • eating and drinking

Tiny Tui is self-catering. Just bring your own food and cook your meals using the two-burner gas hob and BBQ provided. You'll find all the cutlery, crockery, pots and pans that you'll need.

If you want a break from cooking at any stage, Whangarei, a 20-minute drive away, has lots of good eating-out options. Your hosts highly recommend Aqua at the Hundertwasser Art Centre for a delicious meal and/or cocktails. The Fat Camel and Whang Thai are just a few of the delicious Middle Eastern cuisine options nearby.

The nearest supermarket is in Whangarei, but if you're coming from Auckland, it's recommended to stock up on supplies in Warkworth.

  • things to do

A stay at TinyTui offers the perfect opportunity to relax and rejuvenate. Enjoy the stunning sunsets and sunrises while admiring the beautifully landscaped tropical gardens and outdoor bathtub.

If you're keen to get out and about, the Waipu caves are a 30-minute drive away (with stalagmites, stalactites and glow worms). The beautiful white-sand Ruakaka beach is a 25-minute drive away.

If you are interested in art, the Hundertwasser Art Centre in Whangarei is well worth a visit. They showcase contemporary Maori art as well as an exhibition of Friedrich Hundertwasser’s fantastic work. In Whangarei, you can also find an outdoor Camera Obscura which is worth a visit.

  • your hosts

Your host at Tiny Tui is Greg Hall and cat, Squeak.

Landscaper, Greg, has owned the property for 20 years, and over that time lovingly developed the grounds into a tropical paradise.

He loves the view, the bush and watching the weather and seasons change from this magical piece of land.

Tiny Tui is the second glamping escape following Tui Hilltop, offering similarly magnificent views, surrounded by Kowhai trees and the melodic song of tui birds.
