Harri's Hut

Harri's Hut

Otago

Harri's Hut is located in the Otago region, approximately one hour north of Invercargill and 90 minutes from Dunedin. It's an ideal spot for travellers journeying between Te Anau or Central Otago and the stunning Catlins coastline – especially for those who wish to break up their journey without covering the entire distance in one go.

This old shepherd’s hut has been beautifully refurbished into a rustic off-grid retreat nestled against four hectares of remnant forest. As you approach the hut, views of rolling pastures unfold all the way to Central Otago.

Nestle into the sheltered deck where a potbelly stove warms the space with a couch, kitchen and bar leaner. Inside, a quaint bedroom awaits – its large window perfectly framing the views. The bathroom is attached to the rear of the hut.

Relax in the swinging chair under the trees or soak in the wood-fired outdoor bath, surrounded by birdsong. Be sure to explore the scenic hilltop bush trail on the property too.

  • your hosts

Your hosts at Harri's Hut are Andy, Emilee, and their two boys Harri and Hudson.

Andy and Emilee have called this special property home for over a decade. The farm is well located yet offers hidden treasures — beautiful pockets of native bush, tussock land, and amazing views.

Andy is a farmer and Emilee is a full-time mum, therapist, and advocate for Harri, who courageously battles a rare genetic brain condition, as well as epilepsy. The family's journey has been challenging, with Harri requiring intensive therapy six days a week and frequent emergency helicopter flights to Dunedin Hospital.

Harri loves joining his dad on the farm and being outdoors with him. Andy and Emilee hope to share their slice of paradise while raising awareness about genetic brain conditions in children. They dream of eventually establishing the hut as a charity supporting other families facing similar struggles.
