Hudson's Hut is located in the Otago region, approximately one hour north of Invercargill and 90 minutes from Dunedin. Alongside their second accommodation, Harri's Hut, it's an ideal spot for travellers journeying between Te Anau or Central Otago and the stunning Catlins coastline – especially for those who wish to break up their journey without covering the entire distance in one go.
Perched above rolling farmland, the hut opens up to golden light at either end of the day, with floor-to-ceiling glass drawing the view straight into the living space. Everything comes together in an open bedroom, kitchen and living area, kept cosy by the gas log fire.
Step outside to the deck, where the land stretches out below you, made for slow mornings with a coffee or evenings with a glass of wine as the sun dips over the hills.
Looking for something to do? Sink into the wood-fired hot tub under a blanket of stars, or explore the bush on the property. Whether you're passing through or staying a few nights, Hudson's Hut offers a peaceful escape tucked into one of the South Island's most beautiful corners.

Hudson's Hut is self-catering. Just bring your own food and drink, and cook meals using the 2-burner gas stovetop and Weber BBQ provided. You'll find all the cutlery, crockery, pots and pans that you'll need.
For a quick and easy takeaway meal, Clinton is just a 5 minute drive away.
The nearest store for stocking up on some food and supplies is in Clinton (a small local store). Larger supermarkets can be found in Balclutha and Gore, both a 30-minute drive from the hut.
A stay at Hudson's Hut is a true break from the world. Unwind to native birdsong and sweeping farmland views, then soak it all in with a hot dip in the outdoor wood-fired bath.

Just 5 minutes away in Clinton is a 9-hole golf course and boutique upholstery shop. Nearby attractions include the Waipahi Wetland boardwalk (10 minutes away), trout fishing spots (15 minutes away), and the stunning Catlins Forest Park with its tramping trails and beaches (45 minutes away). Your hosts at Hudson's Hut are Andy, Emilee, and their two boys, Harri and Hudson.
Andy and Emilee have called this special property home for over a decade. The farm is well located yet offers hidden treasures, beautiful pockets of native bush, tussock land, and amazing views. It's also home to Harri's Hut, their other accommodation on the property.
Andy is a farmer and Emilee is a full-time mum. Their eldest son, Harri, courageously battles a rare genetic brain condition, and the family's journey has taught them a great deal about resilience and making the most of time together.
Andy and Emilee hope to share their slice of paradise with guests, offering a peaceful escape surrounded by the space and beauty that means so much to their family.
