River Oaks - Cabin

Tauranga, Bay of Plenty

River Oaks Cabin is a 30-minute drive from Tauranga in the North Island.

Nestled amongst the native bush and beautiful farmland, the cabin has everything you need to relax and unwind.

The cabin consists of a cosy bedroom with a comfortable queen-sized bed and a small kitchenette with a fridge. A short covered walkway outside takes you to the shower and toilet in separate buildings connected by a deck.

The outdoor dining and sitting area includes comfortable patio seating and a covered BBQ area. On the corner of the deck is an outdoor bath positioned for pretty views.

Reconnect with Mother Nature and nearby wildlife.  Hear the deer roar and the birds sing their songs as you relax by the river. You really can’t get more peaceful than this.

  • Things To Do

River Oaks Cabin is perfect for couples wanting to reconnect and relax together.

Enjoy a dip in the river on a hot summer day. Take refreshments and chill in the 'Zen Den' - a purpose-built relaxation haven for guests staying on the property (note that this is shared with the guests staying in the River Oaks Moroccan Tent, the other accommodation on the property).

In cooler weather, warm up with a soak in the outdoor bath. There are board games and books to keep you entertained, and even a UE Boom to play your favourites tunes.

If you’re keen to explore the local region, check out the nearby beach, Tuapiro Point or get some exercise and enjoy some open-air art along the Uretara Estuary Bird Walk.

The nearest town is Katikati, only 15 minutes drive away. Tauranga town is a 30-minute drive away.

  • Your Hosts

Your hosts at River Oaks are Melissa and Richard, with a bit of help from their two dogs Badger and Siena.

After living in the city for many years the couple decided to get back in touch with mother nature - and settle down in the country. They've lived on the farm for four years now and haven't looked back. They love the river, the peaceful setting - and the accessibility to nearby towns.

Having been glamping at different places all over the world, Melissa became inspired to set up her own. The River Oaks Cabin and River Oaks Moroccan Tent are the results of that inspiration!

River Oaks is named for the river which runs through the property and the 150 oak trees Richard has planted along the driveway - a nod to the UK, where Melissa is originally from.
