Watercliff - The Nest

Tauranga, Bay of Plenty

Watercliff is located along the banks of the Omanawa River, a 20-minute drive from Tauranga in the Bay of Plenty region. Start your journey with a welcoming 1km drive by your hosts along the river to reach your cabin in the Watercliff Jimny.

Watercliff includes four luxurious and comfortable, self-contained and eco-friendly cabins. This cabin, known as 'The Nest' is a cosy escape for couples. The stylish, restful interior consists of a kitchenette, a modern bathroom and a living space with a queen-size bed. Outdoors you’ll find a large semi-covered deck with an outdoor bath, lounge chairs, a dining area and a BBQ.

In the morning, open your automatic blinds to reveal the picturesque sunrise without leaving your bed. Once you're up, enjoy a stroll down the path through the native bush to a small waterfall, swimming hole and secluded beach along the riverbank.

The seclusion of the site and its location in the beautiful native bush is peaceful and serene. Feel your worries fade away as you explore, relax and reconnect with each other - and the natural world around you.

Watercliffs other cabins are the couples cabins, The View and The Getaway - as well as the family-friendly cabin, The Hangout.

  • Your Hosts

Watercliff is a family-owned business operated by Josh and Delia Harris and their son Lowen (who loves to dig as much as any toddler).

Like most love stories, Watercliff began with a chance encounter; between Josh (recent civil engineer graduate) and Delia (a principal ballet dancer with Birmingham Royal Ballet). Their shared love of the outdoors and exploring new adventures quickly turned into an off-the-grid farm wedding in the UK, and the beginning of an idea for a family-operated business in Delia’s New Zealand hometown.

They returned to New Zealand where they could be close to family and raise Lowen on the family land, while creating something special for others to enjoy. Watercliff was created with the intent to take care of people, property, and the planet. A place to be kind and warm, to always tread lightly but focus on making an impact.

Watercliff includes four gorgeous eco-friendly cabins - The ViewThe NestThe Getaway and the family-friendly cabin, The Hangout.

The perfect escape from the busyness of life. We loved the view of the bush and just watching the sun, rain, clouds, and moonlight change the colours of the valley throughout the day. A great location to visit in any weather!

The managers were away, so the owners got us settled in—such incredibly lovely people. We had the whole place to ourselves. The nest we booked is by far the sunniest, with ample privacy, proximity to the river, and good views.

It's not often you find places where so much thought and care have been put into every single detail. From the incredible setting to the design of the cabins and all the tiny touches in between, Watercliff exceeded expectations. We are Tauranga locals but felt like we were transported a world away.

A beautiful spot to relax and unwind. Accommodation was lovely and very comfortable. Although it was just outside Tauranga, you feel as if you’re miles away.

A beautiful, well-thought-out space - every detail was perfection. A lovely relaxing space, and we enjoyed a dip in the river, followed by wine in the outdoor bath. Absolute bliss! This will be a yearly getaway for us, perfect for couples wanting to relax and connect.
